The Illatary a West Coast Hip Hop/Rap group on the verge of greatness, yes! I said it, GREATNESS in the footsteps of other great West Coast groups such as N.W.A. Dogg Pound, WSCG, and Compton’s Most Wanted; Illatary brings the heat from the Cali streets.

Illatary is a group of emcees that grew up in the San Diego area and attended Jr. High and High School together. The group was formed under the watchful eye of Darnell Smith (Mak Dope) & Teon Person (XLRG) The Illatary took awhile to focus on becoming a Major or National artists while they honed in on their raw talent by performing at local talent shows and festivals. While trying to get signed by a major label the group ran into road block after road block from members pursuing NFL careers and Military obligations to members trying to stay on the right side of the law.


The Illatary released their 1st CD in 2002-2003 “Motavation” and this release was received very well throughout the Southern California underground market after countless mix tapes & street singles. Once they got a taste of the music business the group decided to go all in and have completed three full-length CD’s and appeared on compilations and joint efforts around the country. Illatary also has a small following around the World from Japan to Germany as evident from CD sales and fan mail received by the group.

The groups members consists of Blakkat, Mak Dope, Black Joe P, and Black Maj. The core of The Illatary members are also all solo artists making their own waves on da West Coast underground scene. The members of the Illatary are quick to tell you they are more like a movement than a group because, not only are they Illatary but so are their fans, their street team members, clubs owners, DJ’s and anyone else that comes in contact with their musick.
