Founded and headed by Jay Glover, HD The Agency specializes in female models/talent of various ethnicity and has been a viable source of modeling talent within the world of entertainment since its inception in 2003. During it’s first sixteen months, HD The Agency placed then agency model Maria Moore on the cover of Black Men SSX Sexiest College Girls of the South (2004). HD The Agency alum Shayla Infante followed up Moore’s appearance with a feature layout in Black Men SSX College Model Search Issue (2005). Along with the services provided by these two talented beauties, HD The Agency was also the primary catalyst for the memorable BMM layouts of former agency model/talent Lashontae Heckard within Black Men’s 2004 June/July Issue (Serena Williams Cover) and Black Men SSX Issue #53 (Esther Baxter/Louis Vuitton Cover). In addition to the placement of their agency talent in Black Men, HD The Agency has placed many of their agency models/talent in several high profile national publications such as J’Adore, Smooth, Show, King, XXL, Upscale and Complex to name a few.
Despite such success, agency president Jay Glover is quick to point out that HD The Agency is much more than a gateway for model placements in popular publications. “We scout young women that not only have the look to secure a variety of bookings, but possess the understanding, ambition and tenacity needed to advance in this increasingly tough industry,” he states. Confidence, determination, patience and understanding of sacrifice are key elements an aspiring model must possess in order to become a talent of the agency. Glover further advises, “The entertainment and fashion worlds are unrelenting industries where doors of opportunity open and close swiftly. This is an intense business. We not only demand that our talent understand the history, dynamics and challenges of the industry, but that as models and businesswomen, they are willing to develop in a manner that allows them to adapt, overcome and be at their best when opportunities present themselves. Every obstacle will be treated as an opportunity for growth and transformation.”
During its six year tenure, HD The Agency’s talented roster has appeared within a myriad of projects. Noteworthy clients include clothing lines Rocawear, Akoo, Akademiks, Coogi, Baby Phat, Ed Hardy, PZI Jeans, Syditty; music video’s for today’s biggest artists such as Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, 50 Cent, T.I., Ludacris, Nelly, Jermaine Dupri, Joe; and commercial clients Seagram’s Gin, Kiss New York Cosmetics, and JBS Hair/Urban Beauty, just to name a few.
Jay reflects, “The past six years have been an adventurous journey full of peaks, valleys, highs, lows, successes and failures. I wouldn’t change anything. We truly thank those we have met or worked with over the years that have genuinely supported and elevated the agency to its current status. To all the young ladies who believed in the dream back in 2003 and set the foundation for our current board of beautiful and talented angels, much respect.”
The tradition and standard of beauty, professionalism and excellence set forth by HD the Agency indeed continues. Rising current and past stars of the agency such as Dawn Montgomery, Maria Milian, Ajia Nicole, Ruth Rios, Jennifer Anyla, Camille G., Destiny Monique and Jacara are serving notice to ethnic/urban models everywhere that good looks, big butts and a smile won’t get you far. Instead, the keys to longevity and success in this industry are devoting time to understand and respect the discipline required for modeling.
