Gonja, born David W Cox began his life of entertaining earlier than most. He attended the School for the Creative & Performing Arts at the age of 11 where he majored in Visual Arts & Acting.
Gonja joined his neiborhood's (Winton Terrace) marching band when he was 12 or 13 years old and this is where his passion for music began. Everyday after they practiced the entire drum section would gather their drums and freestyle rap over the beats they performed in Parades.
By the time Gonja turned 15 he'd received several awards, news interviews, competition trophies and was ready to take his beat making skills to the studio. A $200 Radio Shack keyboard and his father's old Dj microphone was all it took for him to give up and quit the marching band forever.
September 18th 2005, Gonja was wounded by gun fire for the third time in 1 year. He was shot a total of 7 times all together and was ready to give up on the streets and his dream of becoming a major rap artist & producer. Nine days in the Indianapolis hospital, and months of laying around bandaged & wrapped up, Gonja got his pen & pad and got back to work.
From then till now, Gonja has written & produced over 200 songs. He's had his music played on local, and internet radio staitions. He's performed in almost every hip-hop night club in Cincinnati OH, and now Indianapolis IN.
This spring Gonja is releasing what he calls "THE MOST EXCLUSIVE MIXTAPE IN CINCINNATI'S HISTORY". This mixtape features Gonja's new indie label DEF SIDE RECORDS, and all new collaborations with what the city and radio stations call "THE BEST ARTISTS IN THE CITY" (K-Riley, Kenny P, Rob G, Showtime, and the city's 1 rap label Beatgang Ent.) plus more. Needless to say, Gonja produced the intire mixtape so this spring make sure you look out for "CINCINNATI'S MOST WANTED VOL. 1"!!!
@Big Reed1 someone's always gotta bring race into it...its got nothing to do with black or white. i thought the performance was weird and horrible song choice.
