About Me

Born in Muskegon Michigan but the world would raise Classic! Due to a military father the early part of his life was filled with constant relocating. So that’s where he would learn the art of versatility and adapting. His first Influences of rap were LL Cool J, Public Enemy, De La Soul, NWA, Big Daddy Kane, Tupac Nas and Bigg.

Now the 26 year old, Classic (birthed Joel Meeks) has had the ability to adapt too many surroundings. So national recognition has always been his objective even at the start of his journey. The native Michiganian was always inspired by the states great history in music of past Michigan greats.

In the last few years, Classic has flipped mixtape after mixtape. In 2008 alone four volumes of his latest mixtape series Phoenix New Sun, with time to still squeeze in his debut album "Damaged Goodz" with much optimism surrounding the artist and a very blank resume, leaves plenty to wonder what he brings to the movement of hip-hop. The unsigned gem should have plenty of labels wondering where he came from in 2009 with the debut of his first solo album "Damaged Goodz" which is like his name....Ah Classssssssic! When it comes to lyrical content and play he has it. Truly a spittah, a story teller, this album has took us all back to the golden age of lyricist. The album feels more personal, almost like a movie.

With only one Emcee feature on this whole album Classic has handled the bulk of the work. The golden age of hip-hop in modern day times. He's the first of his kind. Ah Classssssssic that thrives on making his material original he has his own style that only he conducts. His next goal is to bring hip-hop back to the essence! There aren’t too many topics Classic can’t re-create and take from experience and put in his own words. His lines and flow have become a part of his everyday life. It’s like the air he breathes.
