The story of Chipz is a truly remarkable tale. Not just another young rapper, Chipz is the new millennium's “Son of Hip-Hop“. Born Shakir Seagers, this Bronx native is known for flawlessly winning at showcases and numerous street battles, figuratively assassinating anyone who steps to the plate. Sharper and faster than rappers from both the old and new school. Though he's young, Chipz is a veteran in the rap/street game. After losing his mother at the tender age of 5, then his Grandfather shortly after, the young rapper chose music as an outlet for all his pain and struggling. “I remember writing my first rap on the Train with my big brother Cashes; showing me the ropes, Certifying my Swag” Jokes Chipz. Soon family and friends were encouraging Chipz to pursue rap fulltime, “I was beginning to see an end to what seemed like an inevitable struggle“ Recalls Chipz, only to be informed his best friend had been killed at age 15. With what seemed like a strain of bad luck, Chipz lost faith and ran to the streets, in turn came run-ins with the law. “I realized early on I wasn’t going to be a Career Criminal” States Chipz. “I took to my pen full-fledged without looking back.“ Using his trials and tribulations as poetic therapy, Chipz real life experiences have and continue to inspire the rhymes he writes today. “Rapping isn’t just a hobby, its my wife, my job, my LIFE!” Even after sparking the interest of Violator and other Major labels, Chipz was flabbergasted to hear his mixtape bumping from a passing car on a trip to Miami in 2006. Honored that the sunshine state had welcomed him, especially after hip hop was pronounced dead. Hip Hop may be dead, but he had a Son! Chipz has appeared on various blogs and Mixtapes. His music continues to receive major airplay on radio stations across the globe. Chipz also was the face of a major Nike, Modells, and Yankees 2008 All-Star Ad. Chipz also signed a deal with Macktown who had distribution through Sony BMG that only led to his latest street album "Recession Proof" which featured Jadakiss, Rell, Tre Williams, John Mayer and more moved over 10,000 units in the streets. Due to label complications with Macktown Chipz Debut album was never produced. Chipz did not take that as a loss he took it as a blessing and continued to grind and after a great year in 2009 that included a cease to his distribution deal with MackTown/Sony and a official launch of Money Under Pressure Records Imprint and opening shows for Trey Songz, Fabolous, The Lox, Bobby Valentino, Pleasure P, Jim Jones, Ron Browz, DJ Webstar and Serani just to name a few. Chipz has already started 2010 off with a new mixtape titled "Braggin Rights" Chipz has also done various Interviews for radio stations, blogs and magazines in the U.K Chipz has also finished his Debut Album titled "From The Block To The Radio " that has production done by Jimi Kendrix, Vinny Idol, DJ Mystro an is currently looking for distribution for his Money Under Pressure Records Imprint. Chipz is working on 2 movies one set to air at the Tribecca Film Festival and the other to be distributed with his debut album.
"He reminds me of a young Jay-Z, says Chipz Publicist . "I say J because he has always had street credibility, No matter what he said, you immediately knew it held water“. Chipz doesn’t only talk what he walks but he embodies everything we crave in a rapper. Swag, Looks, Poise, he’s so delicately raw! He's one of those gifted children." Hip Hop Insiders are expecting big things to come from “From The Block To The Radio" Chipz debut album set for a first quarter 2010 release. It's a title Chipz is willing, ready and able to accept. With his Modelesque face to his grown man stance, he's got the hip-hop superstar look down pat. His hypnotizing tracks will have people bopping their heads and rhyming along from beginning to end. Once you listen to Chipz is sure to let people know there's a new General in town.
