Born and raised in Adamsville in Atlanta, Ga. Chauncey Malone has always known he was different. He has consistently talked, walked, and thought in his own pattern. At first the young ATlien tried to hide this and felt he did not belong with the rest of the world but that soon changed…
At the tender age of 6 this youngster realized that his dream was to be an entertainer. He caught the acting bug and began to perform in school plays and assemblies. Performing for large crowds of people seemed to fulfill his spirit in a way that was only able to be explained later on in his life.
As Chauncey began to grow up and the influences of life began to naturally take affect on him he discovered a more enriched love of the arts he played the musical instruments trumpet, trombone, drums, bass guitar and even, the cello. Hip hop music became his genre of choice.
As a pre-teen he began to come out of the shy shell he cloaked himself in he found that making people laugh was his means of acceptance and understanding amongst his young peers. At age 12 he became the class clown and because people liked the way he made them laugh and his way of thinking he now had a voice never before had. He was always the little guy and the ability to make others laugh helped him realize that being small and thinking differently was okay.
Going thru personal problems and family issues drove the young dreamer into the television and other escapist sources. “T.V. has been one of the things I’ve always been fascinated with even before I understood the true impact it had on the world.” One show in particular had grabbed his attention since age nine was the b.e.t. show “Comic View” After watching the show he reenact the entire episode for his sister and cousins. But it wasn’t until age 13 while watching an episode of the short lived B.E.T. reality/contest series that he saw a career opportunity. On the show he noticed a kid the same age as him not only telling jokes and making people laugh but he did it in his own way. The kid eventually went on to take shows first prize and eventually jumpstart his own career.” I saw JJ on the show and it made me think wow that’s what I wanna do. If he can do it I can.” Chauncey previously hadn’t considered stand-up comedy as a career path but after that day he knew that was to be his legacy for the world.
He began study all the “Def Jam” And “Comic View” standouts as well as the legends of the game such as: Richard Prior, George Carlin, Redd Foxx, and many others. He also watched any comedian that that began to make an impact at that time. “When I decided to get into comedy my dad told me to study my craft so I did. You gotta know were you’ve been in order to know were your going as well as were u are now.” After seeing that episode of “Coming To The Stage” he began writing all of his own original jokes.
As a freshman in high school ,after a big move to the outskirts of the western part region of Georgia, Chauncey found that his comedic writing was a place of solace while being in a strange environment. “I move out to a city called Villa Rica and I didn’t know any one there except the people in my own house. It was soo weird especially since I transferred in the middle of the school year. I was all alone away from the crib.” The loner began to use whatever was around him as inspiration for his subject of his comedic analysis, Topics ranging from puberty to family issue and everything in between.
In the tenth grade he entered his high school talent show and even though he didn’t take first prize the entire school praised him for his performance. After that he was unstoppable in his efforts to master his craft. He began writing more jokes, sketches, ect. “I wanted to be the best at writing and performing.”
Now five years, three talent shows, and a whole host of other personal mishaps the 18 year old comedian is ready to show the world what he’s got.
