Raised in Harlem N.Y, Black Reign grew up watching Hustlers become millionaires before they were 16. In a violent and drug filled environment where "either you slinging crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot." Black Reign desired to carve his own path. Rapping by the age of nine, Black Reign became one of the best rappers in his peer group. Building his reputation rocking block parties and street corners, he was becoming known as the top MC in the area even at such an early age. Everywhere there was rap, you saw Reign.
However even as he continued rapping, Black Reign started focusing some of his energy on the streets and the glamour they seemed to provide. Unfortunately, under the influence of the streets life, Reign was eventually consumed, and he decided to stop rapping, and start “sticking s*** up”. In and out of jail, Black Reign eventually found him self stuck, serving an eight year sentence for multiple crimes which included assault in the first degree, weapons possession, and armed robbery. He served time in some of NY’s most notorious and violent facilities such as Clinton, Attica, Auburn, Comstock, Sing Sing, and Elmira.
After returning home, he chose to open another lane up besides rapping as Black Reign immediately discovered another hustle, the world of acting. He appeared on Law & Order, Oz, and The West Wing, just to name a few. However, After surviving the streets as well as prison, Black Reign couldn’t deny that Music was his 1st love and he knew the game needed someone who spits lyrics that only experience can provide, or as he says, "I spit it how I live it.", " It ain't much I haven't seen, from being shot up, to shooting someone up, I've done it all." After appearing on numerous mix tapes, Black Reign released his own mix CD in 2006, the legendary street classic "STRAIGHT TO THE TOP"
In 2007, Capitalizing on the success of STRAIGH TO THE TOP, Black Reign traveled the Country with the GINO GREEN GLOBAL fashion and music tour. The tour which hit 13 cities over two months, included Artists such as Young Buck, Lil Flip, Slim Thug, and was often hosted by Roxy and Big Tigger.
After clearing up some legal issues and forcing his release from what he describes as a “Slave Contract”, Black Reign has been an artist on a mission.
He’s completed his 2nd and 3
rd CD’s entitled “No Statute of Limitations”, and “Reign Chronicals”, finished writing his first novel “Permanent Loyalty”and has shot and assisted in directing his first 4 videos, which have gotten substantial airplay on WorldStarHipHop.com and Thisis50.com
Having built up a growing buzz on the underground and the internet, Black Reign is ready to step up to the prime time and take his spot as the Next Major Force in the game of Hip Hop !....
