Freedom Day is Juneteenth

By  |

While I understand that some of you may have missed this in school but the slaves were not officially free until June 19, 1865. Despite the fact, Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation two years prior declaring that all slaves be free. Although some would argue that black people are still not free with the lack of equal rights, pay or justice, here is some music that remind me of our ongoing struggle and that the revolution needs to be televised or in this day and age recorded and posted on social media:

Various Artists – Freedom

Arrested Development – Revolution

Common feat Will.I.Am – I Have A Dream

Aretha Franklin – Someday We’ll All Be Free

Beyonce feat Kendrick Lamar – Freedom

John Legend, Common – Glory

Bob Marley – Redemption Song
