First of all I find it disgusting that many ppl on here were dismissing Jamie Foxx's referral to Miley Cyrus as a "white b****". It's disgusting because a lot ppl were screaming racism and making Don Imus out to be this bad bigotted person when he referred to the women's Rutgers basketball team as "nappy headed hoes". Now what Don Imus said was a joke a bad joke at that but it certainly wasn't made out to be a joke. Imus's comments were all over the mainstream media for a week, Al Sharpton was demanding that he be fired, and Imus had to go around apologizing. But no not Jamie Foxx. And even though I was not personally offended I find the white b**** remark a lot more offensive than nappy headed hoes. But where's the outrage on this one? Where's Al and Jesse demanding that Jamie be fired? There is a huge double standard in America. White man says one racist joke and it's a huge outrage and everyone's protesting but a black man makes 20 racist jokes and it's called a comedy routine? Maybe someone can help me understand this huge hypocrisy. With that being said Jamie is hugely talented and I don't think he should be fired. He apologized and should be forgiven.
u might b on 2 sumin...its wrong but the thing is black ppl didnt enslave whites and oppress them for years...whites did that to black..n i think this nation is sensitive when it cumes to talkin about black ppl....i aint sayin thats how i think but its wat i think...
I agree that there are certain sensitivities but don't persecute ppl then turn around and dismiss the same behavior. Again I wasn't personally offended but calling Miley Cyrus a white b**** on the radio was not ok. I just find the double standard offensive. It's not fair that white people are made out to be these terrible people when they make a comment but black people can say whatever they want. Yes there is a history of oppression and I think certain sensitivities are justified but the only thing I can compare this to is like one side has a gun with unlimited bullets while the other has their hands tied behind their back with their mouth gagged. If racist comments are wrong they should be wrong all across the board.
I agree homey. It's a double standard like a muthafucka. The only thing I say we as black people have to validate Jamie's words over Imus' is that Jamie is a comedian and makes those kind of comments all the time. With a person like Jamie Foxx, you don't question whether he's racist or not because of his lifestyle. He's in the movies with white people, he's hanging out with white people, all that s***. With someone like Imus, we don't know if he's really racist or not, but he damn sure looks like it. And like the homey Justice says, America feels it should give black people a pass for s*** like that because they did have us f***** up for years. Even subconciously, white people feel as though it's much less offensive for a black person to say cracker than it is for a white person to say n*****.
But, no doubt, black people can't really hope to get past racism unless we learn what's politically correct/incorrect to say in public.
