Cause you keep the door open for they ass. If you make zero tolerance for them, they wont have no choice but to leave you alone. No, calls, no emails, no suprise happy birthday cards or flowers, no I just wanted to see how you are doing, no none of that crap. When you let that little stuff pass, it gives them hope and sends the wrong message. Its tuff love, but they are your X and they need to be treated that way. They need time to heal and move on and everytime you allow them even just a little conversation, it gives them hope and the healing process starts all over again. If they call, dont answer. If it was a very long term relationship. it might not hurt to change the number. If they e-mail, dont respond or respond with god bless you and have a good day. If they send you stuff, send it back. They have to really feel that the door is shut in order for them to start moving on. If they still persist even after you have shown them zero tolerance(honestly), then you might need an order of protection because you have a true stalker on your hands. LOL
