So, I was thinking the other day, who would win a battle between Lloyd Banks and Joe Budden? Y'all remember Buddens, right? Yeah, that light skinned Jersey dude that made the streets "Pump It Up" back in '03? Damn, it's been that long?!!? LOL. Despite the fact that Joe has a 5 (almost) 6 year hiatus from the music industry, he's still managed to keep his name in the mouths of avid hip hop listeners by releasing mixtapes such as Mood Muzic Volumes 1-3, releasing his most recent one in 2008. Joe's only studio album to date was the self titled, "Joe Budden" released in 2003 (Def Jam/OnTop) and is currently working towards his 2009 release, "Padded Room" (2009 Amalgam Digital).

Banks on the other hand has been putting albums out since late 2003, starting with his debut album, "Hunger for More", (G-Unit/Interscope), and his sophomore album "Rotten Apple" (2007 G-Unit/Interscope). Even though Banks has an almost 2 year hiatus from the music industry, he's been keeping all his fans busy with mixtape releases like, "5 and Better: Return of the P.L.K.", "Halloween Havoc", and various G-Unit mixtape and album releases, such as "T.O.S." (2008 G-Unit/Interscope). It's said that there was a time when the fans felt Lloyd Banks had fell off, temporarily surrendering his self proclamed title, P.L.K.(Punchline King). But now Banks is back even hungrier than what his debut album's title suggested back in '03, and he's doing it!! My thing is, both artists are extremely talented. But I wanna know from the people's standpoint, who's hotter????

**Update** 7/6/09

With this new talk about Joe Budden saying that he wants to do a track with Banks, and that Banks fell off, I wanna know who's better. Banks done came out with 2 more mixtapes since I originally wrote this article. Both mixtapes were official. Joe Buddens done released his album, The Padded Room, and it didn't do well in sales, but was from what I heard a good album. His true masterpiece however, comes in the form of a group called Slaughterhouse. When those dudes get together, they're damn near unstoppable. But Banks is also a force to be reckoned with. The question still remains... who's hotter?

See, another n**** that got a point. Excuse me if you don't like the "N" word. That's just how we talk in Brooklyn. But you got a point, fam. Bank$, as nice as he is, hasn't had a hit since, "I'm So Fly" came out. His whole first album cracked; however, I was disappointed in the "Rotten Apple" album, because I felt it should've been used as a promotional tool for his actual album release. But this is a seasaw topic. The more people that hop on either side will eventually determine how things weigh out for the 2. I will be following up with this discussion to see how many overall people pick Joey "Jumpoff" Buddens compared to people that pick Lloyd "PLK/Mr.Gain Green" Bank$.
I have to disagree. Listen to Joe. His music is good. There's a lot more politics behind the scene than that. BTW, I only disagree with the "Nobody is interested in him" part. His actual fan base didn't have a say in his label's decision. Sales is one thing. But if you combined his sales with his actual dowloads(pirated and paid for), plus plays from anywhere at anytime, you'd see that people listen him quite a bit. His promotion for his 2nd album was just all f***** up. And that makes up for more than 80% of your potential sales and earnings. People can't buy you, or develop expectations for your project it they don't realize it's coming, feel me?
hey yall i'm a big fan of both but on the real
Lloyd Banks no problem! joe is a nice dude n all but Banks came back HARD with Return of the PLK and Halloween Havoc!!! the song another 50 on PLK OMG he spit real s*** n explain why he was gona for so long! joe is nice but BANKS got this!!!
your sayin mood muzik is better than any banks mixtape?
Spoken like a true G. Talk about an UNbiased opinion. But what about Beans? You know, the big homey from the R-O-C? I was listening to the "Dynasty: Roc La Familiar" and just remembered that Beans (in my opinion) goes harder than a lot of these niggas out there today, CONSISTENTLY. He's a real n****, along with dudes like Cassidy, Reid Dollars, Freeway, and even Peedi Crack (or Peedi Peedi if you're watered down) lol. I apologize for putting too may Roc-A-Fella artists in there, but they have a lot of Philly rappers. How do you feel about them? Be honest.
Buddens Would Murk Banks.. HANDS DOWN..
Juzt Go DownLoad "Ransom Note" Banks Don't Want Know Problems With Buddens..
It Would Probably Be A Sick Battle.. But Banks FELL OFF.. His Songs Is Trash.. And
His PunchLines SUCK.. Even Though I'll Listen To All His New Songs.. Just To See When
He Is Gonna Change Back To His "Old Self".. Probably Never Just Wishfull Thinking I Guess.
So you didn't like "5 and Better: The Return of the PLK" or "Halloween Havoc"?
BANKS IS THE PLK 4 A REASON
I'm pretty sure Bank$ could feel this, because I got the same feedback on my music from my ex. I'm 23 and been spitting since I was 6 (tru story). And there was a time when I had nothing BUT punchlines, but then (as a man), I felt it was more necessary to make a point in my music and cut back on the PL's and focused more on the message. And my ex said that I was better before (compared to now), but I felt like I got better because I applied punchlines wherever it was applicable or relevant, and stuck to the script like an actor, feel me? To see what I'm talking bout, you gotta go to my page. Don't get it twisted though. I'm not here to promote. I just can relate. I really don't even wanna rap. I just do it for fun. It's a hobby. But I'm nice (in my opinion), but you might think I suck, for all I know. You be the judge.
I seriously think this is a stupid comparsion between Joe Buddens and Lloyd Banks. First of all, Banks is the PLK off the back. He's a great artist that will have you nodding your head til your neck break. Only with two solo albums, Hunger For More and Rotten Apple, those are classics. Buddens only has one album, i think and i only remember the Pump It Up joint and the other s*** with Busa Bus. For a freestyle type think...i give it to Banks hands down. Buddens has a good word play don't get me wrong, but i seriously think Banks would rip him a new one. It would be a good, no, GREAT proformance to see them go at like a blow for blow boxing match.

Taurus aka BluTuthMan
Yeah, it would. I agree. But don't sleep. Joe hasn't been as fortunate as Bank$. Just like Yayo said (Once upon a time). "There's alot of indians out there that wanna be chiefs, but I'm eating more than most chiefs, and I'm an indian". Bank$ is one of those indians that eat more than most chiefs. I can't call it from this one, but I feel your point of view, except the part of this being a "stupid" comparison. Lyrically, who else would you compare Buddens to from G-Unit other than Bank$? No one else is really qualified. Not even 50, and he should know that. I would compare dudes like 50 to niggas like Uncle Murder. How do u feel about him vs. 50? We ain't talking sales, just about his movement compared to 50's.
