Now this is a topic that you all know had to come up sooner or later. With almost every Hip Hop Heavyweight dropping an album this year and no disrespect to the other cats that didn't make the list but I can take a bet and say that the majority will pick and co sign that the argument here is between "The Big 3".
Lil Wayne, T.I., & Young Jeezy.
From Lil Wayne taking over the Hip Hop game for almost over 2 yrs now, selling over a million copies in the first week, being featured everywhere, & doing shows. All of those wonderful statistics don't weigh in in some people's eyes as to what makes a great album.
I can also say that we all know that Young Jeezy was the under dog in this competition but almost everyone in the streets will tell you that his album was by far the best. Young Jeezy didn't have the hype that Lil Wayne nor the T.I. gun charges hype did but stayed a top contender and he did deliver in every way on this album. Touching on the ever ending subject about America's economy being in a Recession, first black president, & child hood stories growing up in the ATL.
T.I. came in with major hype & good stories to really talk about. Discussing topics such as his beef with Shawty Lo, Gun Charges, or his potna Big Phill dying. He delivered on every aspect as well with this Paper Trail album. In my opinion I would have to say that this is by far one of T.I.'s best albums. Lyrically, emotionally, & every thing else that you expect from an album. T.I. gave that to Hip Hop fans with this release.
Others may feel that The Game, Kanye, Luda, Rick Ross, Plies, or even Soulja Boy fans probably feel he should have made the list and i'm not saying those guys albums weren't any good nor saying you have to agree with me. You can make your own if you want to.
It's a America! Freedom of Speech. This is my opinion and in my eyes what I think should be in the running for 'The Album of The Yr In 2008'.
