I turn the dial on the radio to the local hip hop/r&b station, which in my area is jammin 107.7 in eastern connecticut and all i hear is the same 10 songs being played over and over again. i mean 107.7 for example is really just a cookie cutter hip hop station that only plays the popular songs, which all the popular songs seem to be dictated by all the 14-15 year old girls who call up and request the same songs over and over again. I mean they're the ones who made soulja boy popular. I mean I can't even go for a car ride without hearing T.I. "Live Your Life" 3 times on the way to my destination and then 3 times on the way home. And just because I like a song doesn't mean I want to hear it 100 times a day, and they wonder why america has such a short attention span because they just play everything out until your sick of it. and now the big corporations know that hip hop is what the young kids are into so a lot of other stations that play another type of music are disappearing because the owners know that the real money is with hip hop, and that's why they change the format. so now all of a sudden you have 3 stations in your area playing the same music, and i can't tell you how aggravating it is when i turn the dial and i hear the same song playing on numerous stations all at once. and the worst part of all of this is artists are selling their souls and making songs to please the labels rather than make the music that's in their hearts.

F*** the radio mane!
100% yes... watered down beyond belief
For the most part that's very true mayne - the watered down repertoire and the rampant payola have changed the face of urban radio stations and have made it more of an obstalce on the path of hip-hop than a gateway for its advancement that it once used to be.
absolutely. hip hop radio was once about what was new and hot in the streets, now it is nothing but a corporate cash cow that exploits the hell out of everything. Payola, even though it's illegal is still a very common practice. I mean there can be no other explanation as to why the play the same set of songs rather than a variety, which is really what the people and not to be inundated with the same garbage. I can't tell you one person that I've ever had this discussion with that hasn't expressed displeasure with the way radio does things.
WTF, you serious?
Wow... I don't even know what to say.
couldn't tell you i don't waste any of my time listening to the radio...haven't in years. Sirius satellite >>>
thats true. we got 103 jamz in va. they do the same thing. the same 10 songs over and over. i cant remember the last time they played 50 on that station. they play the songs and the artists they like. s*** sad, but on saturdays you can request a song and thats the only part i like. i rather hear a wack song then to listen to the same song over and over. F*** 103 JAMZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!
