The Aftermath Of My Daughter EZ's Death
By now, you are all aware it has been approximately 5 days since the untimely death of EZ. As my wife and I continue to mourn the loss of our daughter, we’ve been doing a lot of retrospective thinking. And like most people in grief, we’ve been focusing on the good times EZ had while she walked the earth. There are so many fond memories which we shall forever cherish: watching EZ play hopscotch and double-dutch on the playground, teaching EZ how to ride a bicycle, singing traditional Guyanese lullaby’s to EZ before she went to bed, watching EZ’s phenomenal progress in her ballet dancing classes, watching EZ sew on her hard-earned girl scout merit badges, seeing EZ’s face light up on Christmas morning, the list goes on. However, there is one burning question which remains to be answered: WHERE DID WE GO WRONG?
Looking back, I think the trouble may have started way back in 2003. I had noticed my daughter developing an appreciation for AMERICAN hip-hop music. Every day, she would sit in front of the television eagerly awaiting the airing of MTV’s Total Request Live. Now, her mother and I had no objections to her watching TRL. After all, that program was notorious for broadcasting bubble-gum pop music videos. The only rapper that really had any regular airtime on the program was Eminem. Little did we know, a south side Jamaica-Queens goon by the name of 50 Cent was about to flip the world on its axis.
When TRL premiered “In Da Club”, EZ went crazy! It was quite amazing, yet disturbing how quickly she memorized the lyrics to this song. But we figured, “Girls Will Be Girls” and EZ will like what she likes until the next fad comes along. However, when “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” dropped that year, EZ would persistently beg me to fly to AMERICA to buy this cd for her. She wanted to be the first little girl in the village to own the album. Adorable isn’t it? Well, after about a month and a half I acquiesced. I jumped on the first plane smoking to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on an insane mission to bring this cd back to my little girl! 
Now I won’t lie to ya’ll, I got sidetracked. I ended up going to Maryland to smoke blunts with my n!ggaz, drink brew, and bang some broads out before returning to Guyana. But I digress. Anyway, I copped the joint and brought it home to EZ as I had promised. I put the cd in her hands and specifically told her: “Remember EZ, IT’S JUST ENTERTAINMENT. It’s NOT REAL”. Unfortunately, she didn’t listen and from that moment on, everything changed.
She would spend her days confined to the hut, listening to GRODT over and over and over. Her demeanor changed completely. She went from wearing pink berets and sundresses to rocking tank tops and NY fitted baseball caps. Her attitude towards people changed. She became SO DISRESPECTFUL, if you will. She turned on us, she cursed at her teachers, and even began bullying other kids for their lunch money. Well, the years flew by and EZ found herself attending her first prom. I, being the proud father I was, wanted to capture every moment of this special event so naturally I volunteered to be a chaperone. I even hired a camera crew to capture footage of the evening. Well, things didn’t go so great.
A group of teenagers whom my daughter had been disrespecting and abusing since middle school were fed up her BS. They all got together and decided it was time for some much needed payback. As I previously stated, I captured the night’s events on film. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED:
EZ’s spirit was CRUSHED. From then on, she was extremely anti-social and constantly sought redemption on her favorite website, THISIS50.com. I guess she figured it would be safer and much less consequential talking greasy in cyberspace. She was sadly mistaken…
