South Florida Lyricist OtisOak Prepares To Release Long Awaited Project ‘Open Letters’

OtisOak is a seasoned independent artist, lyricist, and producer out of South Florida gearing up to release a brand new project, Open Letters this fall.

OtisOak is a passionate creative and hip hop purist with his own distinct brand of smooth, gritty boombap rap. With Open Letters, the independent hustler is bringing golden era NYC energy to South Florida with a style he calls BoomTrap – delivering “Real Music for Real People.” The new project is over two years in the making – his first body of work since his 2018 project, Generation X featuring the fan favorite track “FreeKnowledge” – and is sure to showcase Otis’ signature, gritty sound as well as the hard work and dedication he’s put in over the years.

As an independent one-stop-shop OtisOak writes, performs, mixes, and masters the majority of his work but on Open Letters he’s enlisted some help from some powerful friends. Guiding him with input along the way is one of his mentors, the legendary Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, one of the top lyricists of all time. The lead single off the project is a collaboration with legendary NYC producer, Statik Selektah. The project will also feature a track by super producer Foreign Teck – who’s produced tracks for many of the biggest names in the game including Drake, Chris Brown, Post Malone, Meek Mill, Bryson Tiller, Travis Scott, Torey Lanez, and many more.

The new project follows his 2020 single, “Please Excuse My Language” – which world premiered on SHADE45 in November – as well as the long awaited video for fan favorite track “FreeKnowledge” off his 2018 debut project Generation X: The Prototape. In 2020, Otis also worked on a track for NBA2K20 titled “The League” which unfortunately never came to fruition in game – but performed well when released independently, racking up over 200K streams.

While Open Letters is only his second official release, Otis has spent years honing his brand, performing, and networking around South Florida and Orlando until one of the singles off Generation X, a song called “Glitter” began making noise after a particularly noteworthy performance opening up for Rick Ross in Orlando. This led to Otis being named one of 104.5 Orlando’s Spotlight Artists, winning that year’s Orlando’s Coast2Coast Artist Showcase, and even headlining a major charity event for the city’s mayor.
