50 Cent is defending the poor sales of Before I Self Destruct, blaming the album's weak performance on an internet leak.
Instead of crawling into the hole of embarrassment and laying low, 50 took to Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex to offer an explanation of the leak and why he's not responsible for the album's weak sales.
"With the actual outcome of the project, once the record leaks from the international plant, what more can I do," 50 explained in the interview. "I can't, I held the record long enough to get it to them, to mix and master it and for them to ship it and then it leaks from the plant internationally, I'm like come on, then that's it. They lost the ball. You know what I mean, if the numbers look funny to me, it's they fault."
As previously reported, 50's Before I Self Destruct is set to barely hobble into the Top 5 with 160,000 copies sold.
The projections came as a shock to many, as the rapper's album initially debuted at the number one spot on iTunes.
50 was also optimistic about this album, his fourth effort, as he revealed in a recent interview with Jenny Boom Boom TV.
"All you gotta do is get the response," he explained. "The response is so well, so good, that I know the record is a hit. So whether they consumed it from actually purchasing it or they got it off the web or wherever they got it from, when they hear it and enjoy it, they end up at the show. How can I focus on album sales now when it's to the point where my record is released four weeks before schedule. The marketing, everything that's planned to sell the actual record, is happening four weeks late, now that the record is out a month early. You know, those things are happening after they had an opportunity to hear it and it's confirmation to the doubters that the record wouldn't be good."
JAYS BLUEPRINT 3 LEAKED INTERNATIONALY AND HE STILL MANAGED TO SELL 450K HIS FIRST WEEK.
WHY CANT 50 JUST ADMIT THAT HE HAD A GOOD RUN AND HE IS NO LONGER RELEVENT TO HIPHOP AND ITS TIME TO HANG IT UP. HES A BETTER BUSSINESS MAN THEN HE IS RAPPER
BUT JAY IS BETTER THEN HIM IN EVERY ASPECT OF LIFE

3 weeks is a lot I almost didnt buy the CD, cause I had it and been bumping to it a long time...
but I had to buy it from itunes... the cd is crack and he is given us madd free s***... so im sure some people aint buying it...
Let not forget ppl...what all the other website are giving is ''projection'' sales....its not the actual sales number! Since I had a good guess for Rick Ross album sales (I predicted between 100,000 and 200,000 units first week sales and he did 156,000k, check my page), I believe Fif will do between 250,000 and 350,000 units sold (if it's more...good for him)! The general public doesn't care about him anymore so he's not the center of attention like the 3 previous albums he sold! Yup, Hip Hop done change alright...but we'll see wendnsday how much he will sell! As for long term sales, he should go al least gold within 2 weeks maximum...but this album will sell less than the other for sure!!!
Rapper Ditch performed at the California Sound Grand Opening in Fontana, Ca today and when he took the stage he was so angry he smashed an expensive Epiphone 12 string guitar, at one point hitting an audience member with a piece of debris. *MUST SEE VIDEO* VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED*See More
