Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational use of marijuana Tuesday night, setting up a battle between the states and the federal government, which prohibits use of the drug.

The historic votes were among a host of decisions on ballot initiatives that will shape state-level policy on everything from recreational drug use to same-sex marriage.

“The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will,” said Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, who opposed the marijuana measure in his state. “This will be a.. full story HERE

The day they legalize Marijuana in Maryland is the day I quit drinking...FOREVER. How can I get this measure on the MD ballot next election cycle?
been wondering the same exact sh*t for NY
Im a stoner but never was a drinker. Never knew how people got into drinking
Weed makes you euphoric. Alcohol is a depressant.

I'll take the euphoria...
Good s***. I'm not a smoker but it's ridiculous that this isn't legal already tbh. Another one of those things we'll all look back on in 40 years and go "why the f*** was this outlawed in the first place?!".
exactly
Yep.

Remember there was a time in history when alcohol was prohibited.

This is the same thing, only Marinuana is a lot less dangerous and nowhere near as addictive as alcohol.

We are living in history. Soak it in...
yep exactly. (to a lesser extent) it'll be like how we look at segregation now.
I can't remember who, but some comedian made the point a while back that the reason all these drugs are banned in America is because the best drugs aren't MADE in America lmao too true.
you will see western states legalize/decriminalize first because they are more liberal and pro citizens, in northern states like New york, New Jersey, ect, they profit heavy by having it illegal, billions of dollars flood the judicial system (judges, cops, d.a., prosecutors, lawyers, ect) the funny sh*t is that NY is one of the only states where weed is decriminalized, but they have loop holes where they still arrest people (highest arrest rate in the country) and profit billions from taxpayers by arresting & jail housing as well as prosecuting). if they make it completely legal in NY, alot of politicians, lawyers, judges, cops, prosecutors ect will be without a job ... but guess what, all the billions of dollars will go to job creation, college tuition, another source of income thourgh cannabis industry and taxation, and the law system will focus on real crimes instead of make believe fairy tail crimes like holding some 1 in jail for days for a single dime (also, many people will give up drinking as a result and we all know that drinking causes devastation all around the world every single day, weed > zero)!! I think it cost anywhere between $2,000 to $5,000 in total (whole process) to arrest a person for possession ( no matter how small) and cops get overtime for it. sh*tty system huh ... then they tell taxpayers each year, we took all these criminals off the streets last year, thank you so much for your money, but the " suppose criminals" is justified by dumb sh*t like this !
real talk, once this is legal nationwide im gonna look into obtaining a bank loan so i can buy a few acres of land to start a hemp farm.
Maaan...EVERYONE is talking about the decriminalization of Marijuana in Washington and Colorado. This is a very exciting time for America. I for one will become active in my state (Marland) to help get Marijuana legal by next election.
