How Can Up & Coming Artist Make a Name For Themselves?
There are thousands, maybe millions of recording groups and artist on the internet now days. And it's getting increasingly harder for these unsigned, and for the most part unknown acts to get any recognition and stand out from the clutter. But there is one bright technique that can be improved upon that will give these artist they're day in sun.
Mixtapes. Yes what a surprise, but the idea behind mixtapes when adapted to the next-generation of digital distribution will be the goose that lays the golden egg. Mixtapes give various artist a chance to put out a sample track so to speak, that if fans like can lead to a major future success when a full blown album is released.
So what can artist here on Thisis50 do?
Be on the cutting-edge and create mixDVD's or mixMP4's. You go in with about 10 other artist and you put out a mixDVD/mixMP4 and not only do you instantly make money but also drive additional interest to lesser known artists/groups by associating the names. Each of you have fragments of fans right? This is a way to combine those fragments into a larger cluster of fans that can spread the word for your future DVD/MP4 releases.
And just for the record, fans are on the brink of demanding music videos for every track that you put out. So your future albums will need to be 10-15 music videos on a DVD or MP4. People will soon be armed with video I-pods, I-phones, PSP, Zune, and other video walkman type devices. And in the automobiles, soon video players will be standard to support the rear view camera that all vehicles will pretty much come with.
Check this out that was (1) DVD/MP4, if you've got maybe a different track that you want to promote get with 10 more artist and turn out another one. This is like putting together mini-labels under which similar types of artist or groups are associated.
