I want to ask you about any information about G Unit Records
*** Who are making mixing proccess of theirs songs, what equipment they are using, what software, what triks they are using in voice processing, how they are making beats, how make final mastering and so on ...
It is realy intresting thing for me and i will be happy to hear anything about it !!!
Real talk i never been to fifty house so i wouldn't know. But what i do know is sometimes gunit records in detroit where eminems studio is and eminem basically got the same same set up as dre. So i know its a analog console and analog tape.
they are using analog boards like ssls and ameks that then are record to analog tape machines like a studdard then bouce it to protools track by track. the main advantage is that analog is infinite and digital is not. magnetic tape can handle higher levels. thats why it sounds so big and hits hard without distorting. Analog circuitry has the best sound plus most recordings are now done digitally on control 24's as far as mics everyone pretty much using neumann microphoes or SE 5600's as far as vocal effects like reverbs and delays proly a PCM 90 and other outboard gear like manley compressors. but so you know we talking big money. If you want what 50 and them is on your gon spend 350000 to build a studio properly with that type of equipment. Thats why 50 was pissed when banks and yayo wasn't sellin cuz when they recorded they was spending at least 500 on a room per hour taking months to make a albulm then it gotta be mixed and mastered. You can also look into the cd jakets and find out where they were recorded and the mix engineer. Every engineer has a style of mixing that they learned from who taught them. Like poker players have tells so do they Generally on that large money level the tracking engineer and the mix engineer are the same people so they use certain mics and outboard gear aswell as plugins regularly. On another note:
If you dont have big money get a neumann mic ($1000) with serious preamp like the neve portico ($2000) and a computer with 24 bit recording capablility. honestly a MAC G5 is proly the best computer because of all the apple programs like logic garageband and you can put protools on it.
If you to cheap for that just get the a mac a mic and a protools Digi Designs MBOX. The MBOX comes with pre amps they are just not all that great compared to after market pre amps. Go to musicians friends for prices. If that still cost to much for u that get a mac wit an M audio interface and use logic. Hell man I done recorded songs using a PC, ASIO drivers, a USB mic and fruity loops.
If you are a producer my suggestion is to get the Neko by Open labs. Its what timberland uses or used. its a keyboard and computer in one that can copy any sound from any keyboard, it has mic pre amps and you can load protools onto it. bypass there preamps with a different kind and then you can make all your beats on it record on it and burn the cd right off it. I think is like 5 grand but its all in one and portable
Real talk 50 should holla at me huh? But man i started at where you are at wondering about all this stuff they be recording with and nobody had answers for me.
Now that i gave you some knowledge go to school or some s*** like I did. They raped me on tution but i got the answers i wanted.
Last but not least I got a hot ass beat you all should hear 50 too checc it out its real rough but its on purpose
This some good info. S*** dont make any kinda sense to me right now but, hopefully I'm gonna start going to the Art Institute out here in Austin to become a Live Sound Engineer.
You not lying about the Tuition either. They charging 86K for the degree.
Like a man fresh out his momma house got that kinda paper.
