Okay, the numbers came out and it seems Fif' is only gonna sell 160,000, as REPORTED BY NIELSON SS.... Im not the type to jump write to conclusions with first week sales because you have to look at the total in the end (b/c 50 sold more than kanye world wide in 2007)... but usually, first week sales are the most and then it isolates down from there...
Obvious reasons are the leak, but the album was pushed forward, so that shouldn't have been as damaging. Also, Dr. Dre decided to lag so much with the mixing process that the first single "Get Up" was so old and redundant it couldn't have helped sales so 50 had to get rid of it!!!! The second "first single", "Baby By Me" was a good choice but "Ok, you're right" was already everywhere, so it seems to have confused some listeners. The simple reason is that the calculated releasing of the singles was started at first, and then discarded, then another one was scheduled with "Baby by Me' leading it. I like the fact that 50 is not aiming at the radio to makes sales but he still needs to aim for it just like he did on Massacre. On those songs, he was destroying the radio without using some R&B singer to do his chorus and he was using his witty lines, but the radio loved it because it was still living up to the pop standards yet being "street" for the lack of a better word...
I just think he needs to aim at radio just a tad bit because I feel you need a top 5 on the singles chart to make a difference and Fif is soooo capable of that without using r&b singers ("Empire State"), and still being 50 Cent and genuine. That being said, what do you think went wrong? or right?
