every artist that decides to follow trends instead of settings them killed hip hop. Im talkin bout the niggaz that always rhyme about the same s*** as everyone else with no type of different flow, style, skill or wordplay. a lack of creativity and being yourself has also added to this. all these n**** are wanna be gangsta and drug dealers pushin a fake ass image to the youth and ppl that dont know any better. hip hop is all different elements yea the street is one of them but thats the only type of music thats comin out from these artists. no one is expanding their mind to branch out and try to be different and thats the problem. everyone cant be a gangsta and hustla plus there use to be some type of musical standard to what was good and acceptable but now niggaz just dont care and rockin with whateva and thats whats killing it. But real hip hop lives on in those that live it everyday. its the way you dress, talk, carry yourself around each other how you express yoursef. so if you have that in you your own personal connection with hip hop will never die

The question was who killed Hip Hop not who saved it

Hip Hop isnt dead, it just diminished. And this is because of the majority of fans not being fans of true hip hop, and the radio only playing club s***. What I mean is, if you look at all the songs that got the most airplay this past year, its all club s***. Low, Crank Dat, Lollipop. All songs designed for dancing. But, if Nas or Lupe drop a single, is it gonna get played on the radio as much? No, and maybe not even at all. Hip Hop isnt where it used to be. Back in the old days, songs used to get played for their meaning and their lyrics. And now they get played based on how many girls shake their asses to it. And this doesnt pertain to all people, because there are still men and women out there listening to hip hop, real hip hop.
Soulja Boy (singlehandedly), Internet and the super young muthafuckaz who buy garbage and don't realize the history of say Ice Cube for example (directly), and Nas (with the album that created the buzz indirectly and put the nail in the coffin). That's my opinion what it's worth?
countless ringtone rappers who care more about a catchy hook than the actual body of work toward the creation of a decent song and album
i think fans are to blame... younger generations just listening to hip hop now and all they want to hear is music that we think is crap pretty much.
"The Man" Killed Hip Hop. they tell the radio want joints we listen to, and how many times we gonna listen to it.
