August 29, 2008. If this report is true, rapper 50 Cent has a lot more to be worried about than some mixtape beef. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that Hollywood insiders feel that rapper 50 Cent is losing his appeal in the urban market.
According to the website Woooha.com, 50 Cent's new movie Righteous Kill -which also stars actors Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino - is trying their best to distance themselves from the platinum selling artist. Why?? Not because of his criminal past .... But because the filmmakers reportedly no longer believe that 50 is appealing to the urban market.
Here's the website's report:
The real reason the studio cut Curtis out of the campaign is because their research and exit poll information showed that 50 actually was not the urban or young demographic box office draw they were hoping for.
50 basically can’t draw in the core demographic that used to buy his albums by the millions. The box office let down of Get Rich or Die Tryin’ should have been a hint of things to come.
It’s no secret in the music world that 50 Cent has lost some mainstream appeal, but in the film world you don’t necessarily need multi-platinum albums to have a successful film career (Common, Mos Def, etc.) you just need to appeal to the urban demo. 50 clearly is losing that appeal.
This is AWFUL news for 50 if its true. Think about it ... his entire BRAND might be at stake ...
Very good article and it only supports statements ppl have been makin for a while now. I don't think it wuz really built for longevity anyway. That's y fif got as much as he could financially cuz he soon he wouldn't b able 2 sustain the urban demo from which his brand wuz built on. He has all kinds of investments goin so im sure he will be fine but it will definetly hurt the brand...and it will be a mission 2 sell da music with the urban demo rapidly steppin away from him.
He's played out in every hood except NY & overseas & this is coming from a big 50 Cent fan. That's what I hate about hip hop, all you have to do is be too successful in hip hop to be played out. It's sad because it's not about talent & skills anymore.

he was onlyu good in the HOOD in his first CD after that the REAL HOOD stop f***** wit him...all he had was his white people n little kids...but now even them is not backin him up, he tried to strong arm the industry but the industry aint want that no more, now all his choices he made in the past are comin to hunt him
50 might as well build a pyramid... and bury all these records he's not releasing.. so that, some future generation could find the joints in a millenia or something..
SMFH some of yall thisis50 niggas dont know s*** bout hip-hop if its not g-unit related. Common shot the first shot on "sweet" tryna get attention for his album which sold decent. Drake then shot back at the n**** on the officer ricky…
Has been? I huess these homos havent heard THE BIG 10!
Like the others said, 50 and Interscope arent on the same page. They are used to him promoting himself and now that it's time for them to put some work in they want to cut and run.
