"One of the silliest rap feuds of the past few years is the ongoing struggle between G Unit co-founder 50 Cent and former member Young Buck. Fiddy claims he's upset that Buck complains about not receiving royalty checks and fraternizes with known G Unit enemies like Lil Wayne though it can't help that Buck has always been the group's critical favorite and secret weapon. Completed before his recent ouster, T.O.S. devotes no less than four tracks to Buck, and while he doesn't deliver any unforgettable verses, his raspy marble-mouthed delivery is a welcome respite from the rap-by-numbers approach of Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. In fact, T.O.S. would simply be a middling posse record if it didn't further undermine its own cred by constantly referencing better rap songs: "I Like The Way She Do It" is a pale re-write of Ice Cube's already tepid "You Can Do It," and "Money Make the World Go Round" lifts lines from Wu-Tang Clan's "C.R.E.A.M." The only time T.O.S. comes alive is on the Swizz Beatz-produced "Get Down," which recalls some of Beatz' lo-fi hits from the Ruff Ryders days, and "Piano Man," where Buck declares he can "fill up the door panels and stuff the floorboards / I can fit a hundred in a Honda Accord." Without Buck's cheeky wordplay, G Unit's next record will be like a three-legged pet without the underdog charm."
