Eminem is the best alive.......If you dissagree...name me one person that can step to eminem and not have his career go bye bye....Tell me...Noone...not even the self proclaimed best rapper alive Lil Wayne will step to Eminem...in fact hes trying to get Eminem to be on Tha Carter 3.
THIS IS ONLY FOR THE REAL HIP HOP HEADS.......ALL YOU COMERCIAL NIGGAS FIX YA FACES!!!!
That question is like having 12 gauge but you only have bullets for a .22.....you must remember all this started somewhere and far too often people get caught up in the here and now and forget where they come from....to qualify this let's look back.....if you are going to talk about the best we must give credit to best contributors to Hip Hop....You can't have a discussion about the best with out mentioning the god, the 23 letter, The R, Rakim.....before him rappers were just doing a lot of simple nursery rhymes (unfortunately a lot of the so called rappers are still doing the same old s***) Rakim ushered in the new era of the lyricist so I would put Rakim at the forefront, the root of the tree from which all other branches extend....2Pac, Biggie, Em, 50, Jigga, L.L. and niggas better quit sleeping on Ice Cube.....lyrics is lyrics no matter where you're from......with that said you have to consider that most of these niggas are entertainers, or try to be and they got somebody else writing there lyrics anyway so it's difficult to say who the best is because you don't know if they wrote all the songs themselves. Also, you have to take into consideration what era and what generation you are talking about, times have changed and rappers have evolved.
What makes a rapper great? Is it his swag? Is it his lyrics? Is it his bank account? Is it his record sales? or Is it his influence on his peers and his generation? Obviously rappers are making far more money than they were back in the day, and with technology you are able to see rappers doing their thing like never before, but I think the most important factor for determining the great the influence the rapper has and for me there are no three greater bench marks in Hip Hop history that Rakim and 2Pac/Biggie......and 50 is making a very strong case for this generation.........check your history and fix ya face
couldn't have said it any better...at least somebody knows their history, besides all this cookie cutter s***....I remember when 50 dropped "in the club" cats thought he was a new artist....we don't know our history. When I first heard him he was with onyx....I knew his background well..when he signed with dre and em I knew it was about to be a problem...people look at his swag as fake but 50 is an ill trained soldier in this game, from jam master jay, the trackmasters and even being down with Nas. The same people that have a problem with 50 now are the same ones that had a problem with him when he released "how to rob"....Fat Joe etc. The reason he's successful now is his work ethic..Dre gave him the platform to be heard..his name was already made in the street... His influence is already throughout the game simply by the units sold...Had Tupac lived I can see him and the outlawz as successful as 50 and the unit...people always talk about the security he uses to shield him...but as he said himself,"getting shot didn't feel good, and I don't plan on being shot again, I have to make sure I fulfill my intentions". It's not smart being stupid...If Pac had on his vest with a burner I think hiphop would be going in a totally different direction...I feel it would be more militant than what it is now. I'm from the south...nothing against niggas making money the right way, but I don't understand this leaning and rocking s***...you got a mic say something or don't even put an album out!
No offense I have to say that I love jazz for the most 50 cent is obvsiouly the man he has the rap game tight
along with other endeavors and is accomplishing it all..
